What is a "Preserve?"

New Jersey Conservation Foundation’s preserves are properties that are open to the public and offer beautiful locations for hiking, bird-watching, bicycling, picnicking, nature photography and outdoor fun with family and friends.

These locations provide incredible opportunities to explore New Jersey’s diverse natural world, including picturesque landscapes, beautiful plants, and fascinating wildlife. They also provide vital habitat for those plants and animals, some of which are endangered.

Many of our environmental education and outreach programs take place on these preserves, giving visitors unique opportunities to experience them. Some preserves include spots for fishing, kayaking, canoeing and other non-motorized water sports.

Preserves are open during daylight hours. To learn more about individual preserves, explore the dropdown menu or enter your zip code to find the preserves nearest to you!
