Connect with Garden State Greenways

NJCF, in partnership with the State Green Acres Program, embarked on a project to produce a statewide vision for land preservation in New Jersey about a decade ago. The product, Garden State Greenways, is available free to conservation advocates, regional and local planners, government agencies, community leaders and others.

Here's what you can do.

First, visit the website.

It's gardenstategreenways.org, where you can:

  • download and print county maps showing the Garden State Greenways;
  • see how your property fits into the greenways vision using the interactive map;
  • discover existing preserved farms and parks in your town;
  • find out if a trail is near your work for a lunchtime stroll or a park for watching birds and playing with your children or grandchildren;
  • learn how natural areas serve important environmental functions in your community;
  • plot your walk or bicycle ride across town—or across New Jersey—on a system of trails and greenways;
  • explore New Jersey's nature from your computer;
  • and study how a proposed development may impact a natural area.

Second, connect with us.

Share your feedback about the website and the Garden State Greenways program. Let us know your stories on how Garden State Greenways may have helped you with a project or taught you something new about New Jersey's rich natural lands. If you would like to share Garden State Greenways information with others, staff is available to give specialized presentations for your group. Please call 1-888-LAND-SAVE (1-888-526-3728), to schedule a presentation or to discuss the Garden State Greenways project.

Third, take a hike, or a bike ride.

Let us know if you have a park, preserved farm, trail or other natural area within a 10-minute walk or bike ride from your home. That's the goal of the Garden State Greenways. Let us know how we're doing!
