New Jersey Conservation Foundation (NJCF) has acquired
the 9,400-acre Franklin Parker Preserve – the largest
private land conservation success in New Jersey’s history!
NJCF purchased this $24 million property at half price.
The Franklin Parker Preserve, in the heart of New Jersey’s
magnificent Pine Barrens, is home to unique plants and animals
such as the bald eagle and Pine Barrens tree frog.
In the most densely populated state in the nation, protecting
a tract of land of this importance and magnitude is a tremendous
feat. Even more significant is the fact that the property
serves as a connector to tens of thousands of acres of already-protected
public lands. The Franklin Parker Preserve links together
the state’s major holdings in the region!
In addition to acquiring the 9,400-acre property, NJCF will
ensure the permanent protection of its vast natural resources
and critical habitats; permanently protect water quality in
the pristine headwaters of the Wading River; and establish
critical linkages to the mosaic of protected public lands
within the heart of the New Jersey Pine Barrens.
