FAR HILLS, NJ, May 7, 2007 – Come out and enjoy a beautiful spring morning with biologist Emile D. DeVito, PhD as he leads a nature walk through Bamboo Brook Park on Thursday, May 17 at 9:30 a.m.. Emile will discuss the biology and natural history of the native and ornamental trees found at the park. The two-hour program will start at Bamboo Brook Outdoor Recreation Center, 170 Longview Road, Far Hills.

Participants should wear sturdy walking shoes and dress for the weather. This walk will be held light rain or shine- downpour cancels.

The walk will begin in the newly restored gardens at the historic Hutcheson House, where a variety of oranamental plantings are found. It will continue through the garden to the more rugged wooded landscape that leads to Bamboo Brook. Emile will discuss the effect of native vs. ornamental trees on the park’s variety of wildlife.

Bamboo Brook is a 100-acre Morris County park known originally as Merchiston Farm, the former home of William and Martha Brookes Hutcheson, which includes fields, woodlands and a formal garden designed by Mrs. Hutcheson, one of the first women to be trained as a landscape architect in the United States.
